From luxury behemoths to compact charmers, SUVs and crossovers have become hot sellers. Today, there are crossovers and SUVs to fit everyone’s needs as well as budgets. There’s an especially great crop of SUVs and crossovers that sell for under $35,000. Not only do they contain cutting-edge features, but they are amazing to drive as well. While many of these do offer higher-priced trims, their basic versions all start below $35,000.
1. Honda CR-V
The good-looking Honda CR-V features lots of in-cabin tech, which includes the “Honda Sensing” suite of Apple CarPlay integration and advanced driver assistance systems. The car runs on a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, while the interiors are a huge upgrade from the CR-Vs of yore, complete with wood-like accents, satin finish on the accents and comfy leather seating, and a user-friendly digital instrument panel.
2. Mazda CX-5
Just like all of its brethren from the Mazda family, the Mazda CX-5 is the best-handling crossover car in its class, complete with plush interiors and a great design. The Mazda Connect system and the nicely-appointed interiors are a plus point.

The inherently rugged, boxy Subaru Forester packs a lot of promising tech into a capable and comfortable package. The value-for-money features only CVT transmission, the amazing, standard all-wheel drive.
4. Toyota 4Runner
This older but still great 4Runner is this list’s most serious off-roader with its body-on-frame construct and biggish engine. The real-wheel-drive SUV features a refined drivetrain in V6 cylinder engine, giving a fuel economy of 18 mpg, making it a good midsize SUV for those who want a simple, pure ride.
5. Volkswagen Atlas
The three-row Volkswagen Atlas features good, decent looks, a VR6, four-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and above-average tech. The surprisingly value-for-money VW Atlas is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its class, with a fuel economy of 26 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. What’s more, its nicely-appointed as any other nice VW and has absolutely massive interiors.
6. Chevy Blazer
Seemingly coming out of nowhere is the Chevy Blazer is a pretty cool, two-row crossover SUV powered by two options for engines – a V6 with an HP of 208 or an I4 2.5–liter. The Chevy Blazer also boasts of an amazing infotainment system and connectivity as well as advanced safety gear.
7. Kia Telluride
The Kia Telluride is well-equipped, well-built, handsome without being too in-the-face, and comfortable as hell. The three-row midsize SUV has a vast amount of cargo space, is agile to be driven and parked around anywhere, and has a fuel economy of 23 mpg. The front-wheel-drive SUV has great handling and nice-looking interiors wrapped up in one of the best-looking exteriors that this car’s category and class has to offer.
8. Hyundai Kona
One of the best in the subcompact class, the Hyundai Kona features a vibrant color palette, a bolder styling, and a plethora of convenience and tech features. What’s more, the Hyundai Kona even has an all-electric option too!
